Why is African American and Latino graduating percent lower than others ?

Barely half of African American and Latino students graduate from high school, with Latino graduating at 55%, African American at 51%, and White students at 76%.

Why is the percentage of students graduate from high school of each race so different? It is not exactly the right number, because in some schools there are might more African American students than white students, and other schools might be different. It affects the percentage of graduation,if there are more African Americans in a school, the percentage of graduate of African Americans would be lower or higher.
This made me think of the movie I saw before break about the Little Rock Nine, and most of the white kids in the school were in the AP classes, remainder classes, white and black were in a different neighborhood, for example white neighborhood are cleaner than black neighborhood. Black neighborhood they have abandon houses and the places that they live are smaller than most houses. Is this why African American and Latinos graduating lower than white and Asian?
I think the problem that they don't get the support they need, because their parent did not graduate from high school, and because they don't believe in themselves of their children.

  1. I agree with you cuong, a lot of factors can have the potential to cause people to drop out of schools. Though sometimes they make their own choice and choose not to go to school, or else it can be forgivable. btw, please let jian feng write a post, i want to see what he think aobut the statistics

  2. Some kids don't grauate because they either don't want to or they just think it's a waste of time.Maybe they don't want a good future they probably want a bad one.

  3. Interesting conversation. Do you think good parenting requires having a lot of money? Or is there something else that a good parent needs to do besides providing a nice place to live?

Also, I agree with Kevin. I want to see both of your voices in this blog!
